BFL's New Flux.2 [Klein] Can Generate AI Images In Less Than A Second
Flux 2 Klein is a compact, lightning-fast, and open-weight image model that can generate and edit images in less than a second.

Black Forest Labs just released its latest and fastest image model, Flux 2 Klein, that can generate and edit images in as fast as ~500 milliseconds, making it more than 30% faster than any competing model.
The insight behind this new model is simple: unify image generation and editing in one compact model and cut inference steps without dropping quality.
Aside from the general availability on major API providers, the model runs locally with open weights and quantized variants on RTX 3090/4070 class hardware consumer GPUs with ~13GB VRAM.
In this post, let’s take a look at what’s new with Flux 2 Klein and show you sample images I created with it.
Let’s get started.
What’s new in Flux 2 Klein?
“Klein” is German for “small”, which reflects both the model size and the minimal latency. But Flux 2 Klein is anything but limited. It delivers great performance in text-to-image generation and image editing that are typically reserved for bigger models.
Here’s a summary of what’s new with Flux 2 Klein models:
