Cursor v1.0 Is Here
Cursor 1.0 introduces some major features including Memory support, Background Agents, and automated Code Reviewer + Bug Fixer.
Cursor has officially released the first major version bump since its initial launch in 2023. Cursor 1.0 is here!
This is very exciting because Cursor has been my go-to AI coding tool for more than a year now. OpenAI made multiple attempts to acquire the app, but the deal never went through. Honestly, I’m glad it didn’t. Its parent company, Anysphere, is now valued at $10 billion.
Here’s a quick overview of what’s new in Cursor 1.0:
Automatic code review with BugBot
Background agent for everyone
Agent in Jupyter notebooks
Memories
MCP one-click install and OAuth support
Richer chat responses
New settings and dashboard
Let’s get into the details of each feature.
1. Automatic code review with BugBot
Under the hood, BugBot looks at the diffs in your commits and analyzes the code using the most powerful models in Cursor. When a potential issue is found, it leaves a comment with a detailed explanation and a suggestion for a fix.
Automatic Comments: Every time a PR is updated, BugBot re-runs and leaves comments with potential issues.
Manual Trigger: You can also run BugBot manually with
bugbot run
in a comment on the PRFix in Cursor: Use the “Fix in Cursor” links in comments to jump straight into Cursor with full context preloaded.
Here’s a look at how it works on GitHub:
