I am currently on the hunt to find the best alternative to Cursor AI. In case you’re wondering why — a lot of its users, including myself, have already unsubscribed after the company broke users’ trust by changing its pricing and rate limits without communicating those changes properly or clearly.
I posted a quick poll on X, asking developers which tool they were moving to. The one that got the most votes was Claude Code.
Claude Code is an AI coding assistant from Anthropic. Unlike Cursor, it operates directly within the terminal so it’s designed for software developers. It also helps you understand a codebase and help with various coding tasks, including code editing, bug fixing, testing, and Git operations, all through natural language commands.
The rest of the article will walk you through the setup process, example usage, pricing, and my personal thoughts on Claude Code.
Let’s get started.
